I appeared for an interview on Jan 2nd. It took the consulate officers 16 days to call me and ask for original documents again. Darn PIMS verification! I resubmitted the documents on Jan 22nd through the drop box... and have been calling them daily to track the progress. They say they need 7 working days from the day the documents are received. I have already had to reschedule the flights once..and my employer is getting worried now. If I had known about the delays at Chennai post before, I wont have applied here. Chennai sux!!!

I'm itching to finish my 6 months on EAD to change job..
Using H1B makes one safe. but how many years we want to do the safe job. If I-485 gets denied do u have enough patiences to file another green card. One thing is believe is "We are here to make money, most of us are in our thirties and we have short time remaining to reach our goals. I think we all have one year EAD. wait for 6 months then go on job hopping, learn whatever you can, get into whatever you want. Start a business, do something.... Anything you do will help you in future. Sitting with H1B in pocket may take 4 years cream of your life.
If you have the talent you can get great salaries anywhere in the world. Because of your talents and hard work you guys are here. World is not small.

Folks I have an update on my case.
We filed for Motion to reopen on which were receipted on March 27th, 2009. I wrote to Congressman, Senators and also Ombudsman. Today my congressman's office got an update that our MTRs were approved on April 30th and our 485s got reopened and they have sent letters to that effect.
What a relief. It was a stressful 6 week ordeal. Thanks to IV and its members for the help and support.

Sending letters is a waste of time. I did many in the past and nothing happened. We will only make post office richer and lose money on postage. Nobody reads or replies to letters.

Paid membership will not benefit the cause of IV at all. IV is a volunteer organization and paid membership will not do any good. Better approach is to raise awareness and tread a fine balance in asking for contributions.
Look at NPR. (National Public Radio) It is a public radio service and it's expenses are mostly footed by volunteer members like those who contribute for IV today. I think the key is raising the awareness and realizing that results take time.

Till now, i used to believe that USCIS is working hard and eventually they will clear all the backlogs and give the GC to everyone. but by seeing your post, i think i am mistaken, they are doing a big mistake by giving a GC to people like you.
Once you become a gc holder and then a citizen, you will question a lot of other things, like giving social security/medicare to poor people who have not contributed and will also question the tax cut(1000$) given to each child when claimed as dependent , as you will argue that , i was doing my second Phd and others who dont have anything else to do, made children and are now claiming the cut.
All i am saying is that american people are in great danger by allowing people like you to get the GC and citizenship.

However, I will dissect the above post line by line to pinpoint exactly why some people completely deserve the treatment that they get. Fully agree with each word you said. Many people with legit US education (not TVU kind that many not so educated people on this forum are taking shelter under the umbra of) who have been in the US for more than 10 years are still lawfully waiting in the line. And this idiot with a BCOM and MCA ( correspondence course from IGNOU) is dreaming of porting into EB2 and screw us up. Shame on USCIS and Shame on DOL. I am really concerned that if legit EB2 applicants don't talk to lawmakers and send emails to USCIS, we will be stuck here for years due to these fradulent porting.

Remember, most people are working hard and chances are that they may get fired for jobs doing this.
SO many IV members have been risking thier jobs to work hard on these things.
So many people have taken unpaid vacations, spent valuble time on this.
Kudos to Aman, Himanshu, Jwalant, and all other folks who are helping the community.
A lot of people are free riders, they come to IV for informartion only. A lot of people do not want to do anything, just because someone else is doing it for them. I have heard excuses from people saying "Don't you have anything else to do??? You will be fired from your job, I bet you, don't get disillusioned by these folks at IV, they cant move a stone"

I am EB3-India, yet I dont support the removal of per country limits, as there is a reason for the diversity rule, Indians and Chinese are currently on the wrong side of the equation so it seems "fair" to remove the quota.

The diversity rule originated to preserve racial purity and keep down Chinese immigrant population, in the 19th century. You want to preserve it?
If rules weren't meant to change, why have the fricking senates, parliaments and elected officials?? All we need is one court to run the whole country.
These EB country limits might look OK to you now, but in the future they'll be no doubt condemned and scrapped. The sooner the better.

Well Rep Lofgren is one of the two lawmakers in the House who have background in immig. issues (she was an immig. attorney).
If she doesn't have an obligation to solve immig. issue who else will have? It is her expertise and she want to solve the problem. Give her a chance, by supporting her effort on the 3 bills.
WHY is she backing the bill..what is her motivation? or did she just decide to do a gandhi on us all?
