hello guys, i just went through all the 6 pages but still am confused.
This is how my name appears on my passport:
First name- ______(blank!)
Last Name- Ravneet.
one every US document including SSN, License, Job, its listed as FNU Ravneet.
I am on F1 visa, working on my OPT. My student visa just expired but my OPT-EAD is valid till june09. I feel very embarassed when asked" how do u say ur first name", I need to have it changed, could somebody tell me step by step the process involved.
I can drive to NY consulate and have my passport changed, but then how to change every US document, I mean would a expired US visa be a issue? My EAD is valid and I am legally in status. Please guide!

Guys, please stop pointing each other on past issues. Please work together to fix the broken system. Past is past. When you get angry, I know it jumps you to hate all negative objects. Nothing we can get out of it. Please. Lets be united to fix things. Blaming will not fix anything instead it pulls legs of each other and finally set backs.

We will each individually send flowers to Emilio Gonzalez to be delivered July 10th. There is a suggestion to use a paypal account where we contribute money. However no one has come forward to take over the account so far.
The theme of the note attached to the flowers should be Sympathy or Get well.
Preferred Message(Sympathy): All the best for future Employment Based visa estimates
I do like the "Get Well: Hope USCIS recovers from its insanity" message as well

Ok lets say that F1 is changed to a dual intent visa (Which i doubt will ever happen)

Is that not the same logic used by EB2 against EB3 Porters ?
What ever your logic the fact is currently F1 is NOT and immigrant intent visa and hence there is fraud currently. Now what happens in future is not deterministic but what is happening now is plain to see
What US will do is also non-deterministic. To gauge it, you can only try to understand the sentiments currently running in politics. Anyway, if you look at the issue I am bringing up, it has the potential to grant everyone their freedom. But maybe I am talking to the wrong person, because you already have your EAD .. well your brains are also welcome in solving the puzzle

Yes...I am aware of the facts that you mention...but now that data entry is made since long, the ND has no value.
Last year when the EB2 PD's were current for 28 days in August, only those RD's whose data was entered in TSC had chance of getting GC's. In other words, receipts are now generated for all '07 fiasco filers and hence the ND has no value!
That said if a Service Center rep says about the ND replacing the RD in their system, then it is time for corrective action. With these small windows of PD being current, why take chances!

H-1B workers, who have united under grassroots groups like Immigration Voice , want more than just an increase in visas. They want the government to streamline the rules.
Currently, the workers have to apply for green cards through their employers, often a lengthy and cumbersome process. People are holding on to their travel to home country because of this stupid idoitic laws. Educated people are treated like slaves. Why in America Immigration means Illegal? the back log is around 50,000 and added to it 50,000 more will not grab American Jobs. and the American job losses are because of the so called mulltinational companies greed for money, they out source everything to India, China and Philippines. (example Call centers) And offshore development. America only gained because of LEGAL immigration.

By pure luck and fluke, I was able to get an Infopass appt for Sep 11
There was only one appt available for the entire month of sep 08 at Tampa office.
Hopefully I will know something concrete on EB-2 visa drainage system.LOL :)

As an IO working in USLameIS, I absolutely cannot agree with your sentiments! In fact, that is the worst idea I have ever seen. Why, if we did that, we would give you applicants a sense of security. We can't have that. You would be released from your suffering and anxiety. That would render our cleverly thought out process to make-you-wait-forever meaningless.
On top of that, you add a layer of work to me! That cuts into my 3 hr lunch, 2 hr coffee time, and 1 hr toilet break. NO!
And the worst thing ever is: should the idea be implemented, it would add transparency to what we are doing and.. and.. oh noes! *GASP* we would have to provide accountability! NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOooo.

You are right that PD of the substute labors are clogging the lines. But something can certainly be done. We can ask CIS to assign the date of filing of I-140 as the PD for substitute case. This is not same as revoking all substituted labors. This is simply rearranging the serial numbers in the queue. And this does not require any law from the lawmakers. So this should be low hanging fruit.
